Since Angel was dispatched to TV-show heaven, James Marsters’ admirers have had a helluva time getting a fix of the actor formerly known as Spike. (Sadly, The Mountain peaked before his character even had a chance to recur. And the Spike TV-movie is only a fantasy for now.) So Saturday’s USA movie, Cool Money (airing at 9 pm/ET), is guaranteed to get fans’ blood pumping. In the fact-based drama, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum is career criminal Bobby Comfort – “exactly the kind of guy I want to play,” he tells TVGuide.com. “He did some petty crimes that he got caught for almost every time. Never hurt anybody, but he was a smartass to the judge the last time around and got a really heavy sentence – like nine or 10 years for rolling a gas station, I think.

Did he have a chair on the show (in contrast to how it’d taken until late season 2 Buffy for SMG to insist that JM and JL were provided with chairs)?

There’d been a chair for him on his very first day on set. Steve (Himber) had warned James that as they’d pushed for money that he shouldn’t expect a particularly nice trailer but he’d got a wonderful trailer!

JM: So, we just have a few minutes. This is a different kind of Macbeth than I’ve ever seen in America, and I thought it might be interesting if you guys have any feedback about it… usually with Lady M as a big bitch and Macbeth as a big wimp, which I never really agree with. I just thought I’d you give a chance to ask any questions if there’s nothing that was clear. Or are you asleep? The brave one! Yeah…

It’s not every day I get to chat up a man who gets more mail–sent to my own mailbox, mind you–than I do.

That man with the mass-mailing, cult-frenzy appeal is, of course, James Marsters, with whom I chatted exclusively about his new gig on the WB’s Smallville. And because I love him so (and you fans have been waiting patiently) I’ll give you James before getting into scoop from other faves like Lost bigwig Damon Lindelof, Gilmore Girls boy Matt Czuchry, The O.C.’s Rachel Bilson and 24′s Mary Lynn Rajskub–not to mention the funniest damn clip you could ever imagine from The Office’s Steve Carell, who has a few choice words regarding Billy Bob Thornton, Angelina Jolie and the Daily Show’s “Bring Back the Couch” controversy. You will laugh. Oh yes, you will.
