A bloody fascinating interview with our favorite undead odd couple.

We’ve got to start sending interns! It is our sad duty to announce that curiosity has killed yet another reporter. Sent to confirm rumors of a return to Sunnydale by Spike and Drusilla, veteran investigative journalist Henry Hackett met the vampire couple at an undisclosed location where we assume he lost his life. Once again, however, the official Buffy magazine was able to retrieve the disturbing recording of the dubious meeting. While well-spoken and witty, William the Bloody and his beloved also turned out to be two of the darkest individuals Hackett had ever encountered. They will also be his last.

Yes, he’s bad. But he’s so good at it! As a Juilliard undergraduate, James Marsters never imagined the life he now lives playing Spike, Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s effortlessly evil nemesis. A veteran of repertory and regional theater companies, the actor has a passion for Shakespeare and other classical playwrights. But come to think of it, Spike would be right at home in, say, Macbeth or Titus Andronicus. We caught up with Marsters just after Buffy’s (Tuesdays, 8 pm/ET, the WB) current season wrapped, as he enjoyed a little light reading.

So Buffy executive producer Joss Whedon created a trio of bloodsucking regulars who do not go easy into that good night. Witness Angel (David Boreanaz), Buffy’s hunky on-again, off-again vampire boyfriend, who was impaled on a sword in the season ender but is not dead yet – in fact, he’ll get his own spin-off in the fall of 1999. At the beginning of Buffy’s second season, Angel acquired two Sid and Nancy-like…

First there was Anthony and Cleopatra, then there was Romeo and Juliet. Now it’s time to pencil in a new pair in the romance history books: Spike and Drusilla, two of the creepiest lovers since Morticia and Gomez Addams. You’ll find Spike and Dru inhabiting Sunnydale, California, which by no coincidence is also the home of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
